Epidemiology & Clinical Research Track

This track prepares clinicians to understand and address public health issues. Epidemiology and clinical research provide the evidence base for making informed decisions about public health policies and interventions, better understand the underlying causes of diseases, and develop new treatments and prevention strategies. 

MS in Epidemiology & Clinical Research (Stanford University)

The Masters of Science in Epidemiology & Clinical Research offers two concentrations:

  • Global Health

  • Infectious Diseases

Skills Learned Through Epidemiology & Clinical Research

  1. Critical thinking: Epidemiology and clinical research require the ability to analyze and interpret data, evaluate the strengths and limitations of different study designs, and draw conclusions based on the evidence.
     

  2. Data analysis: These fields involve the collection, management, and analysis of large amounts of data. You can learn how to use statistical software and techniques to analyze data and draw meaningful conclusions.
     

  3. Research design: You can learn how to design and conduct research studies, including how to select appropriate study populations, develop hypotheses, and collect and analyze data.
     

  4. Communication: Epidemiology and clinical research require the ability to effectively communicate your research findings to different audiences, including academic audiences, policymakers, and the general public. You can learn how to write research papers, present your findings at conferences, and communicate your work through popular media.
     

  5. Collaboration: These fields often involve working as part of a team, and you can learn how to collaborate with others to achieve common goals.
     

  6. Problem-solving: Epidemiology and clinical research often involve addressing complex problems and finding creative solutions. You can learn how to approach problems systematically and think outside the box to find innovative solutions.
